Stop switching tools in 2026

01/08/2026

I spent a good chunk of time today outlining my plans for 2026 and organizing my toolkit. I used Obsidian for the entire last year. Its biggest strength is the vast plugin ecosystem and powerful extensibility. However, its UI and interaction logic never quite clicked with my habits.

After a deep dive into my actual needs, I decided to split each core requirement and use different tools for different scenarios. No more chasing the fantasy of a single tool solving all problems.

Here's the organized toolkit:

  • Flomo: For daily, fragmented notes - it has the best and most convenient review function.
  • TickTick: For todos, project planning, wishlists, and other list-based items, plus lightweight note-taking - TickTick offers the best user experience, features a calendar view, and makes tasks crystal clear.
  • Small Daily (Xiao Richang): For daily check-ins and habit tracking - clean, pleasant UI with no usage friction. The "Sparkle Score" design is unique.
  • Douban: For logging movies, TV shows, music, and books.
  • Tencent Docs: For larger documents, mind maps, spreadsheets, etc.

I'll stick with this setup for a year and see how it goes. No more getting lost in endless tool-hopping and wasting time. The focus must shift to achieving key goals.

While organizing flomo yesterday, I stumbled upon my vision for the future, written right after I left my job last year: "The ultimate goal is to build a career that blends work and life, where passion and income coexist." I hope to make milestone progress toward that this year.

Let's go, 2026.
